Akebiaceae - Akebika

Dicotyledonous, polypetalous. Evergreen or deciduous Fuji-no-Tohon. Leaves are alternate, palmately compound, and lack stipules. However, the Decaisnea genus, found from China to the Himalayas, is a shrub with pinnately compound leaves. Flowers are unisexual, trisexual. Stamens are free, or fused at the filaments. Berries are relatively large, with several to many seeds. There are about 35 species in 9 genera distributed in Asia and South America. It is a family closely related to the Berberidaceae and Menispermaceae families, but does not contain alkaloids.

双子葉植物、離弁花類。常緑または落葉性の藤本(とうほん)。葉は互生し掌状複葉、托葉(たくよう)はない。ただし、中国からヒマラヤにかけて分布するデカイスネア属Decaisneaは低木で、葉は羽状複葉。花は単性、3数性。雄しべは離生するか、または花糸の部分で合着するものがある。液果は比較的大きくなり、種子は数個から多数。アジアと南アメリカに9属約35種が分布する。メギ科、ツヅラフジ科に近縁な科であるが、アルカロイドは含まない。
