Agenosho - Agenosho

A district of Suo-Oshima Town in the southeast of Yamaguchi Prefecture. It is located on the central southern coast of Oshima Island (Suo-Oshima), which forms the center of the town. Formerly known as Ajimosho Town. Facing Ajimosho Bay, it has Ajimosho Port. In the Middle Ages, it was a manor of Myoho-in Temple in Kyoto, and one of the three manors of Oshima. In the early modern period, it flourished as Otateura, the largest of the Suo-Icura districts, with vast fishing rights.

山口県南東部、周防大島町(すおうおおしまちょう)の一地区。同町の中心をなす大島（周防大島）の中央部南岸に位置する。旧安下庄町。安下庄湾に面し、安下庄港がある。中世は京都妙法院の荘園(しょうえん)で、大島三ヶ荘の一つ。近世には広大な漁業権をもつ周防五浦随一の御立浦(おたてうら)として栄えた。
