…(2) Interpretive sociology is a sociology of regulation that takes a subjective standpoint, and is social nominalist, antipositivist, voluntarist, and individualistic. Its core is phenomenological sociology, led by Alfred Schutz (1899-1959), which seeks to understand the semantic structure of the everyday life world, and ethnomethodology, which combines the ideas of phenomenological sociology with the methods of sociolinguistics to approach the normative rules and rationality structures of the everyday world. The common theoretical standpoints of both are that they are involved in social phenomena not as observers but as participants, that they regard people's actions and interactions as a constant process of interpreting meaning, and that they approach this in an interpretive way, and that they focus on the significance and validity structures of pre-theoretical common sense, point out the pluralism of the composition of social reality, and develop the theory of the so-called "plural reality." …

…(2)解釈的社会学　主観主義的な立場に立つ規制の社会学で，社会唯名論的，反実証主義的，主意主義的，個性記述的な性格をもつ。この中心をなすのは，日常的な生活世界の意味構造を理解しようとするシュッツAlfred Schutz(1899‐1959)を先頭とする現象学的社会学と，この現象学的社会学の理念と社会言語学の方法とを結合して，常民世界の規範的ルールや合理性の構造に接近しようとしているエスノメソドロジーethnomethodologyである。両者に共通する理論的立場の特徴は，それらが観察者としてではなく参加者として社会事象とかかわりをもち，人々の行為や相互作用を不断の意味解釈過程ととらえ，それに理解的方法で迫るという方法と，理論以前の常識がもつ有意性構造や妥当性構造に焦点を合わせ，社会的現実構成の多元性を指摘し，いわゆる〈多元的現実〉の理論を展開していることである。…
