(4) Aki Region The eastern part of the prefecture is made up of the two cities of Aki and Muroto, and Aki District, and covers almost the entire Muroto Peninsula. Apart from the Aki Plain, most of the area is mountainous, and it has long been known as a forestry region, including the Yanase National Forest in the upper reaches of the Nahari River. The towns of Tano and Nahari at the mouth of the river were distribution centers for forestry.
