Ortolani's test

[Symptoms]
In the neonatal period, there are few externally visible findings, and predisposition to dislocation is diagnosed by placing the hip joint in abduction and flexion and applying force to the femur to dislocate or reduce it (Ortolani's test). In infants, symptoms include limited hip joint movement on the dislocated hip joint, the femoral head being palpable on the outside, a short affected limb, and asymmetrical femoral creases.
