Red boxwood - Red boxwood

An evergreen shrub of the family Ilex (APG classification: Ilex family). A variety of Japanese white birch (Kurosoyogo) that is distinguished by its small overall size and shorter fruit stalks of 1 to 2 centimeters. It grows in Hokkaido and the upper temperate zone of Honshu north of the Chubu region, and is in a different habitat from Japanese white birch.

モチノキ科（APG分類：モチノキ科）の常緑低木。全体が小形で、果実の柄が1～2センチメートルとより短い点で区別されるウシカバ（クロソヨゴ）の変種。北海道、中部地方以北の本州温帯上部に生育し、ウシカバとはすみ分けている。
