...These indicate that red sea bream blooms in the season when cherry blossoms bloom, when the body color is at its most vivid and beautiful before spawning, and in the season when wheat is ripe, the spawning season ends, the body color becomes dull, and the flavor is at its worst. In terms of quality, live ikidai and live preserved shimedai are expensive, and if they are left in the fish tank for too long, their eyes will become sunken soon after being taken out, so in Nagasaki they are called menukedai. Red sea bream are distributed throughout Japan, the Korean peninsula, China, and Southeast Asia.
