…In limestone regions with well-developed underground water systems, large and small caves are formed by the erosion of groundwater. These are generally called limestone caves, but in many cases, the inside of the cave is filled with stalactites and other deposits of travertine, so these types of caves are specifically called limestone caves. However, in practice, the two are often not clearly distinguished.
