Red sea hoya

Red sea hoya
One of the special soils scattered throughout Kyushu, especially in southern Kyushu. A type of volcanic ash soil, its common name in Miyazaki Prefecture. It is thought to be the same as Onji, especially Akaonji, and in the vicinity of Hitoyoshi in Kumamoto Prefecture, this soil is called Imogo. It is lightly porous and has a high phosphorus absorption coefficient. It is necessary to improve it by applying a lot of organic matter, lime, and phosphate fertilizer.

九州，特に南九州の各所に散在分布する特殊土壌の一つ。火山灰土壌の一種で，宮崎県での俗称。オンジ，特にアカオンジと同じものと思われ，熊本県人吉付近ではこの土壌をイモゴと呼んでいる。軽鬆 (けいしょう) でリン酸吸収係数は高い。有機物，石灰，リン酸肥料を多施して改良する必要がある。
