In addition to these, there were numerous other private art schools bearing the name of academia in Italy in the 16th and 17th centuries, but the most influential of these was the Accademia degli Incamminati of the Carracci family, which was founded in Bologna around 1586. Outside Italy, the Academy founded in 1583 by Van Mander of Haarlem in the Netherlands is known as a private school of this kind.
