(1) CT scans have extremely high spatial resolution, allowing detailed diagnosis of mass lesions and their infiltration, such as splenomegaly, lymphoma, leukemic nodules, and myeloma. They are also useful for searching for intratissue hematomas in patients with a tendency to hemorrhage and for searching for foci of infection in immunocompromised patients. Masses and lymphadenopathy seen in lymphomas take on a variety of forms, but generally show good contrast effects and are often of relatively uniform density with little central necrosis.
MDCT (multi-detector row CT), which is equipped with multiple detector rows, can obtain detailed volume data (three-dimensional data) of the entire body in a short time, and can reconstruct cross-sectional images in any direction after the examination. In addition, by creating a superimposed image (fusion image) with a nuclear medicine image, it is possible to determine the disease progression from both morphological and functional perspectives (Figure 14-5-8). 　空間分解能がきわめて高く，脾腫やリンパ腫，白血病結節，骨髄腫などの腫瘤性病変やその浸潤像などの詳細な診断が可能である．出血傾向での組織内血腫や免疫低下状態での感染巣検索などにも有用である．リンパ腫でみられる腫瘤やリンパ節腫脹は多彩な形態をとるが，一般的には良好な造影効果を示し，中心壊死の少ない比較的均一な濃度であることが多い．
　多列の検出器を装備するMDCT（multi-detector row CT）では，短時間で全身の詳細なボリュームデータ（三次元データ）が得られ，任意の方向の断面像を検査後に再構成することが可能である．また，核医学画像との重ね合わせ像（融合画像）を作成することで，形態と機能の両面から病勢を判定することができる（図14-5-8）．［今井　裕・橋本　順］
