Those that prefer to attack cattle and horses include the gray-black to gray-brown Ushiabu (illustration), and the yellow-gray to black Akaushiabu (2-3 cm long). Those that bite humans and suck blood include the Dekura-gatsu (illustration), which has black spots on its wings, the medium-sized gray Shirobatsu (white fly), and the Gomafu-gatsu (spotted fly). ...
