Basidiomycete fungi, order Matsutake, family Shimejiaceae. It grows on rotten wood in broadleaf forests in autumn. The cap is broad and rounded, then flattened, but the edges always roll inward. It is 4-10 cm in diameter. The surface is brown or chestnut brown, and the gills are white, then red. The stalk is 5-8 cm long, white, and slightly swollen and reddish at the base.
