A marine fish of the order Perciformes, family Carangidae. It belongs to the genus Caranga and can reach a total length of 25 centimetres. With beautiful red pectoral and caudal fins, it resembles the closely related species, the red sea bass, at first glance, but can be distinguished by its longer pectoral fins, which are almost as long as its head, and its slightly taller body length. It is found in Sagami Bay, the Kumano Nada Sea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc. It is edible and delicious.

硬骨魚綱スズキ目アジ科に属する海水魚。ムロアジ属に含まれ、全長25センチメートルに達する。胸びれと尾びれが赤くて美しく、一見、近縁種のオアカムロに似ているが、胸びれが長くて頭長にほぼ等しく、体長もやや高いので識別できる。相模(さがみ)湾、熊野灘(なだ)、台湾、香港(ホンコン)などに分布する。食用にされ美味である。
