…In 1831, Masujiro Hashimoto founded the Kaishinsha Motor Vehicle Factory, which later became Kaishinsha Co., Ltd. In addition to repairing imported cars, in 1838, the company manufactured a small passenger car. The car was named DAT (Datsuto), after the initials of the sponsors Kenjiro Den, Rokuro Aoyama, and Meitaro Takeuchi. Since the name DAT was not well known to the general public, it was also called Datsuto (Datsuto) by using the Chinese characters. …
