A current affairs and general magazine first published in October 1923 (Taisho 12). Miyake Setsurei, who had been the editor of Japan and the Japanese, separated from Seikyosha after the Great Kanto Earthquake and began publishing it with his son-in-law Nakano Seigo. Setsurei's philosophical essays and current affairs articles always appeared on the front page, while Nakano Seigo, Sugimori Kojiro, and Tagawa Daikichirō also contributed, and Ozaki Shiro and Masamune Hakucho contributed to the literary column. Setsurei's lengthy serialization of Contemporary Views (later renamed Contemporary History) is particularly well-known. A total of 150 issues had been published by the time the title was changed to Eastern Continent in June 1936. Source: Heibonsha World Encyclopedia, 2nd Edition Information |
