...In places where the two species grow together, natural hybridization occurs, resulting in many individuals that are morphologically indistinguishable from one another. These natural hybrids are collectively called Aino-komatsu or Aka-kuromatsu. In addition, in the Ryukyu Islands south of the Tokara Islands, there is the Ryukyu Akamatsu (Pinus luchuensis Mayr).
