Hymn of Love - Ainosanka (English) Hymne à l'amour

A famous chanson song. The lyrics were written by Edith Piaf and the music was composed by her close friend, the female composer Marguerite Monod. It was written in 1949 and sung by Piaf in January 1950. It describes a love that transcends life and death and is bound together forever. At the time, Piaf was in love with boxer Marcel Cerdan, but he died suddenly in a plane crash on October 28, 1949. It is said that this song was written in mourning his death.

シャンソンの名曲。作詞はエディット・ピアフ、作曲は彼女の親友だった女流作曲家マルグリット・モノー。1949年につくられ、1950年1月ピアフによって創唱された。生死を越えて永遠に結ばれようとする愛情がつづられている。当時ピアフはボクシング選手マルセル・セルダンと恋愛中だったが、彼は1949年10月28日、飛行機事故で急逝した。この歌は彼の死を悼(いた)んで書かれたともいわれる。
