Kagano Kukedo

A scenic spot on the Sea of ​​Japan coast of the Shimane Peninsula in northeastern Shimane Prefecture. Part of Daisen-Oki National Park, it is a nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty and Natural Monument. The coast, which is made up of basaltic agglomerates, tuff, and basalt, has been eroded by the sea to form cliffs and caves. The caves consist of Kyu-Kekedo (90 meters high) at the entrance to Kaga Port and Shin-Kekedo (40 meters high, 200 meters long) at the northern end of the cape. Kyu-Kekedo has a Jizo statue and a dice tile, and is dedicated to the spirit of a young child. A glass-bottom boat with a glass bottom operates from Kaga Port in Shimane Town, Matsue City to Shin-Kekedo Cave. Katsurajima Beach is nearby.

島根県北東部、島根半島日本海海岸の景勝地。大山隠岐(だいせんおき)国立公園に含まれ、国指定名勝・天然記念物。玄武岩質集塊岩、凝灰岩、玄武岩などで構成される海岸が海食によって断崖(だんがい)絶壁や洞穴を形成する。洞穴は加賀港入口の旧潜戸（高さ90メートル）と岬北端の新潜戸（高さ40メートル、洞穴の延長200メートル）からなる。旧潜戸には地蔵尊と賽(さい)の磧(かわら)があり、幼子の霊を祀(まつ)る。松江市島根町の加賀港から新潜戸洞穴まで、船底がガラス張りになっているグラスボートが運航される。近くに桂島(かつらじま)海水浴場がある。
