…After the Nazis came to power in 1933, he fled to Moscow and joined the Institute of Philosophy of the Academy of Sciences, where he studied literary history and aesthetics. After the war, he returned to Hungary and became a professor at the University of Budapest. He established himself as a representative thinker in the Eastern bloc through his controversy with existentialism, “The Young Hegel” (1948), which pointed out the influence of economics on the formation of Hegelian philosophy, and “The Collapse of Reason” (1954), which criticized the irrationalism of modern Western philosophy that prepared the Nazis.
