...However, around 1385 BCE, when Tushratta became king of Mitanni, an internal conflict arose between him and Artatama, who called himself the "King of the Hurrian Empire." Artatama was defeated by the Hittite king Suppiluliuma He made an agreement with the Assyrians and attacked Tushratta's side. In two campaigns by Suppiluliuma I, the capital of the Mitanni Kingdom, Wassuganni, fell and Tushratta was assassinated. After that, the Mitanni Kingdom became a Hittite protectorate and was temporarily restored under Tushratta's son, Mattiwaza (Kurtiwaza), but was absorbed into Assyria and destroyed.
