Omama [town] - Omama
A former town in Yamada County, eastern Gunma Prefecture. It occupies the southeastern foot of Mount Akagi and the alluvial fan of the Watarase River. The city center has long flourished as a post town on the Akagane Highway leading to Ashio, and as a distribution center for raw silk. It is served by the Watarase Valley Railway, the Tobu Kiryu Line, and the Jomo Electric Railway. In March 2006, it was incorporated as a city by merging with Higashi Village, Seta County, and Kasakake Town, Nitta County, to form Midori City. Area: 48.05 km2 . Population: 22,031 (2003).

群馬県東部,山田郡の旧町。赤城山南東麓と渡良瀬(わたらせ)川扇状地を占める。中心市街は古くから足尾に通じる銅(あかがね)街道の宿場町,生糸集散地として栄えた。わたらせ渓谷鉄道,東武桐生線,上毛電鉄が通じる。2006年3月,勢多郡東村,新田郡笠懸町と合併し市制,みどり市となる。48.05km2。2万2031人(2003)。
