Semi-drying oil

This refers to fatty oils that form a dry film when left in a thin layer for a long period of time. Iodine value: 100-130. The main component is glyceride of linoleic acid, with a considerable amount of oleic acid and small amounts of saturated fatty acid glycerides. The content of linolenic acid, which is a characteristic component of drying oils, is usually very small. Used as edible oil. Some can also be used for paints. Representative examples include soybean oil (sometimes classified as drying oil), rapeseed oil, rice bran oil, corn oil, cottonseed oil, and sesame oil. Many of them have large production values. Generally, they are cheaper than other vegetable oils.

脂肪油のうち薄層にして長時日放置すれば、乾燥皮膜を形成するものをいう。ヨウ素価100～130。リノール酸のグリセリドを主成分とし、かなりの量のオレイン酸および少量の飽和脂肪酸グリセリドを含む。乾性油の特性成分であるリノレン酸の含有量は通常きわめて小である。食用油として使用される。塗料用にも用いうるものがある。大豆油(ゆ)（乾性油に分類されることがある）、菜種油(あぶら)、米糠油(こめぬかゆ)、コーン油(ゆ)、綿実油(めんじつゆ)、ごま油(あぶら)などが代表的なものである。生産額も多額なものが多い。植物油中一般に価格が安い。
