Oceanic climate

Japanese: 海洋気候 - かいようきこう（英語表記）oceanic climate

This refers to the mild climate found on the ocean or on small islands in the ocean. It has characteristics that contrast with continental climates, with small annual and diurnal variations in temperature. In addition, the time and period of maximum and minimum temperatures are generally later than those on land in terms of annual and diurnal variations. The warmest and coldest months are usually one to two months later. Humidity is high throughout the year, with a large amount of cloud cover, and therefore a lot of rain. There is a tendency for heavy rainfall especially in the winter. Winds are generally strong, with little fine dust, and the air is clear.

海洋上や海洋中の小島に現れる温和な気候をいう。大陸気候と対照的な特徴を有しており，気温の年較差･日変化が小さい。また，年変化や日変化において，最高気温･最低気温の出現時期や時刻が陸上のそれよりも全体として遅れる。最暖月や最寒月はいずれも1ヵ月から2ヵ月くらい遅れるのが普通である。1年を通じて湿度が高く，雲量が大きく，したがって雨量も多い。とくに冬に多雨となる傾向がある。風は一般的に強く，細かいちりが少なく，空気は澄んでいる。
