…The representatives of Spanish Baroque architecture are the Churriguera family, who were originally makers of altar screens (Churrigueresco). Most of the works date to the 18th century, and their representative works include the altar screen for the San Esteban Basilica in Salamanca, designed by Churriguera, and the visionary Transparente altar in Toledo Cathedral, created by his student Narciso Tomé, which combines the three elements of architecture, sculpture, and painting. An example of a Baroque feel in the structure itself is the façade of Murcia Cathedral, but the Baroque style blossomed in the New World, rather than in Spain itself, where it was fused with the decorative traditions of the Maya and Inca, and flourished in a splendid and luxurious way (Latin American art). …
