Mikkabijin - Mikkabijin

Japanese:
Mikkabijin - Mikkabijin
These fossil bones of a new human were excavated in 1958 and 1961 by Suzuki Hisashi, Takai Fuyuji, and others from a limestone quarry in Mikkabi Town, southwest Shizuoka Prefecture. Animal fossils of the Aomori Elephant, giant deer, and tiger were also discovered at the same time, and the bones are estimated to date to the late Pleistocene. Measurements of the fluorine contained in the bones also indicate that they are older than the Jomon period. The bones are fragments of the skull, pelvis, and femur, and overall have characteristics similar to those of Jomon period humans. The femur in particular is highly columnar, but short, and the estimated height is about 150cm.
