Japanese: トゥニカ - とぅにか（英語表記）tunica ラテン語

A wool or linen undergarment worn by men and women in ancient Rome. It was also worn as outerwear at home and in the military. It was made of two pieces of fabric sewn together at the shoulders and sides, and was worn with a belt around the neck. Originally it was sleeveless, and even those with sleeves were mostly short, but during the imperial period, long-sleeved versions (tunica manicata) also appeared. For ordinary men, it reached the knees, for military personnel it was shorter, and for women it reached almost the ankles. Senators' versions had one broad scarlet stripe, and knights' versions had two narrow stripes of the same color.

古代ローマの男女が着用した羊毛製や亜麻製の下着。家庭内や軍営などでは上着としても着られていた。2枚の布地を肩と脇で縫い合わせたもので，首からかぶり帯を締めた。元来は袖なしで，袖付きのものでも短い半袖が主だが，帝政期には長袖のもの(トゥニカ･マニカタtunica manicata)も現れた。丈は一般男性用は膝まで，軍人用はそれより短く，女性用は足首近くまであった。元老院議員用のものには緋色の太縞が1本，騎士身分用には同色の細縞2本がついていた。
