Kawaiisugi - Too cute

...In general, it differs from Japanese species in that its needles are thinner, the teeth at the tip of the seed scales are not as sharp, and there are only two seeds on each scale. However, some people consider it to be a variant of the species brought from Japan and call it Kawai Sugi C. japonica var. sinensis Sieb.et Zucc. Fossils of Sugi have been excavated from Pliocene and Pleistocene strata in Japan, but closely related species are widely known from Tertiary strata in Europe and East Asia, so it is not surprising that native species have been found in China.
