…He was strongly influenced by Boehme, and his vision of the divine wisdom (the Virgin Sophia) playing an important role also strongly reflects Boehme's theosophy. He founded the Philadelphian Society with John Pordage, Charles Bromley, and Francis Lee, and preached the importance of a non-partisan inner church and the theory that all things (even the devil) can be saved. The Society itself was dissolved shortly after Reid's death, but the movement had a great influence both in England and abroad. …
