Kaizu [town] - Kaizu
A former town in Kaizu County, southwest of Gifu Prefecture. It occupies the southern half of Takasu Waju, sandwiched between the Kiso, Nagara, and Ibi rivers, and has developed rice fields and waterways. In addition to rice, it produces tomatoes, strawberries, melons, eggplants, and more. Takasu, in the center of the town, was the castle town of the Takasu Domain in the early modern period and one of the centers of southern Mino. In March 2005, it merged with Hirata Town and Nanno Town in Kaizu County to become Kaizu City. 44.21 km2 . Population: 15,000 (2003).

岐阜県南西部,海津郡の旧町。木曾川,長良川,揖斐(いび)川にはさまれた高須輪中(わじゅう)の南半部を占め,水田と水路が発達,米のほかトマト,イチゴ,メロン,ナスなどを産する。中心の高須は近世の高須藩の城下町で,南美濃の一中心であった。2005年3月海津郡平田町,南濃町と合併し市制,海津市となる。44.21km2。1万5000人(2003)。
