...Leader Jorgensen soon converted to Catholicism and became famous as a hagiographer. Two female writers, Agnes Henningsen (1868-1962) and Gyrithe Lemke (1866-1945), appeared at the turn of the century and made women's liberation the theme of their novels. Twentieth-century literature began with people of common origin incorporating their hometowns and class into their writing, giving rise to regional literature, peasant literature, and proletarian literature.
