…In his report, he concluded that the fundamental solution was to give the region sufficient democracy, that is, education, freedom, and prosperity, and made clear his liberal radical stance. Furthermore, in June 1848, together with the psychiatrist Rudolf Leubuscher (1821-61), he published Medical Reform, in which he argued for reform of the medical administration. However, in the midst of growing reactionary sentiment, he was driven out of Berlin in 1849 and moved to the University of Würzburg, where he became a professor of pathology. …
