Lunda

...The Luba Empire was also called the Luba Empire because it controlled many ethnic groups, client kingdoms, and chiefdoms centered around the Luba people. Together with its close ties to the west, the Lunda Kingdom (or Lunda Empire), the Luba-Lunda culture extended throughout the entire savannah region of the southern rainforest of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (up to the west shore of Lake Tanganyika). The Luba Kingdom occupied the center of the trade route across central Africa and reached its peak in the 19th century, but by the end of the century it had been weakened and disintegrated by external influences (Arab slave hunters, Western powers) and internal conflicts over succession to the throne.
