Magnetohydrodynamics

...the science that discusses the effect of electromagnetic fields on the movement of fluids. In Japan, it often refers to magnetohydrodynamics (abbreviated MHD), which discusses the effect of magnetic fields on electrically conductive fluids. Generally, when mercury, molten metal, or ionized gas (plasma) moves in a magnetic field, an electromotive force is generated, which causes an electric current to flow and generates an (induced) magnetic field, which changes the magnetic field and affects the movement due to the force that the magnetic field exerts on the electric current.
