[Sea erosion]
Marine erosion is the erosion caused by the movement of seawater on the coast. Sea cliffs are formed when waves break at the base of a submerged mountain where it meets the sea, and the strong action of the shoreline creates a notch at the base. The upper slope overhangs and collapses, causing the cliff to retreat inland.
