Mercy killing

Mercy killing

[The danger of eradicating "lives unworthy of living"]
The idea that severely mentally ill people and severely deformed children should be given a "mercy killing," i.e., the "elimination of lives unworthy of living" and "involuntary euthanasia," was carried out in Germany under the Nazi regime, but everyone now agrees that this is absolutely unacceptable. The argument for dignified death and natural death, which means stopping medical treatment and giving a humane death, is an attempt to defend the interests of the sick person in accordance with their wishes, and is distinct from the elimination of lives that are not worth living.
