...They feed on fruit, berries, seeds and other vegetable matter. They do not build nests, but lay a single egg directly on the ground, with the male and female taking turns incubating the egg. The Mauritius dodo ( Raphus cucullatus ) (illustration) is 100-120cm long, with the male being slightly larger than the female. It is generally grey, with a slightly dull back, a mostly white belly and blackish thighs.
