Mauritia mauritiana (English spelling)

...It is found in the tropical Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean from the Kii Peninsula southward, and lives on rocky reefs below the intertidal zone. The Hachijodakara shell ( Mauritia mauritiana ) (illustration) has a shell height of 8.5 cm, a diameter from side to side of 6 cm, and a dorsoventral diameter of 4.5 cm. The shell is black-brown with round yellow-white spots on the back, and is oval with a flat ventral surface.
