Rokkaku Sadayori - News from Rokkakusa

A warlord in southern Omi during the Sengoku period. The second son of Takayori. He first entered the Shokoku-ji Temple in Kyoto and called himself Koushitsu Jouki, but in 1516 (Eisho 13) he returned to Omi due to the rebellion of the shugodai Iba Sadatsugu, and in 1518 he inherited the family headship upon the death of his brother Ujitsuna and took the name Sadayori. Initially, he acted as a close attendant to the shogun Ashikaga Yoshitane, but from 1521 (Taei 1) he repeatedly traveled to Kyoto together with Hosokawa Takakuni to support Yoshiharu, the son of the former shogun Yoshizumi. For three years from 1532 (Tenbun 1), he welcomed Yoshiharu to Kuwanomi-dera Temple near his residence, Kannonji Castle (Omihachiman City, Shiga Prefecture). Around this time, he burned down Hongan-ji Temple (1532), provided reinforcement for Saito Toshitsuna of Mino (1536), and attacked the Nagano clan of Ise (1540). In 1546, he became the official attendant for Yoshiharu's son Yoshiteru's coming-of-age ceremony, and was made Kanrei-dai and Jushi Shige (Junior Fourth Rank). As the Azai clan expanded their influence in northern Omi, he attacked them at Minoura and Odani Castles, while at the same time he was involved in the internal strife of the Gamo clan, and thus advanced his control over his vassals, which led to the prosperity of the Rokkaku clan during the Warring States period. Sunset on the 4th of New Year 21. The legal name is Kounji Komuro Joki.
