Mingora

...Since 1956, full-scale excavation work has been carried out by the Italian Institute of Central and Far Eastern Studies. The capital of Uddiyana was Mingora (the city of Mingora, as Xuanzang put it) about 3km northeast of present-day Saidu Sharif, and many ruins can be found in the vicinity. The most important is the site of a Buddhist temple at Butkara, south of Mingora, with about 200 small stupas around a large stupa that was expanded five times, and it seems that a monastery existed outside the surrounding walls of these.
