...Since 1956, full-scale excavation work has been carried out by the Italian Institute of Central and Far Eastern Studies. The capital of Uddiyana was Mingora (the city of Mingora, as Xuanzang put it) about 3km northeast of present-day Saidu Sharif, and many ruins can be found in the vicinity.
