...The pass offers a good view of Mt. Fuji and the Hakone Caldera. In the past, this pass was called Mikuriya Pass or Otome Pass. When a checkpoint (Hakone Barrier) was established in Hakone in 1619 (Genwa 5), ​​a guardhouse was set up in Sengokuhara. In 1626 (Kan'ei 3), it became the Sengokuhara Checkpoint, and inspections of the Hakone Back Road were carried out there.
