Morpho portis (English spelling) Morphoportis

...They are well known for their large species with a metallic blue sheen. The size of the adults varies from about 7cm wide in the case of the Morpho portis to over 20cm wide in the case of the Hecuba Morpho (illustration). Their main characteristic is that their body length is extremely short compared to their wing area. They are similar to the Satyridae family in that they have well-developed eye-like patterns on the undersides of their wings, and their wing venation is similar to that of the Ringed Butterflies.
