…Morquio syndrome is a disease reported by physician Louis Morquio (1867-1935) and others from Montevideo, Uruguay. It is a disease that causes abnormal bone development throughout the body due to metabolic abnormalities in mucopolysaccharides. It is a hereditary disease, and symptoms appear from around 3 to 4 years of age. It is characterized by kyphosis of the spine, bowed legs, flat feet, carinatum, and abnormal joint mobility, and by a short stature with a trunk that is relatively shorter than the limbs.
