Morricone, E. (English spelling) MorriconeE

[Leone after that]
Meanwhile, Sergio Leone, the originator of the Spaghetti Western, made the epic film Western (1968), which was shot on location in America and cast Hollywood's top star Henry Fonda as the villain, before reaching the pinnacle of the genre with Oz (1971), starring two other major Hollywood stars, Rod Steiger and James Coburn. During this time, along with Leone, another composer who contributed greatly to the success of Italian-made Westerns was Ennio Morricone (1928- ), who pioneered the "Spaghetti Western" sound with the music for A Fistful of Dollars, using whistling and electronic instruments, and who went on to write the music for the most numerous films. Morricone also went on to have an international career and was invited to Hollywood to continue his film career. In 1973, Leone produced the bizarre film "Mister Nobody," directed by his assistant director Tonino Valerii, which parodied the Spaghetti Westerns he had created and even parodied "The Wild Bunch," which had been influenced by them.
