〘noun〙① To sit outside (in the house, closer to the outside). To be outside. Dei. ※Utsubo (around 970-999) Rojojimo: "The people were sitting on the anti-bridge, with only folding screens set up." ② A room set up in the shinden-zukuri style for both living and entertaining guests. Many were set up in a connecting hall called Nito-ro. Dekiden. A seat for a deki. Later it was often read as "dei," meaning a room with a tatami room. ※Utsubo (around 970-999) Chrysanthemum Banquet: "My mother, Kita no Kata , Sode-kimi, had raised the blinds and was sitting on the slats of the deki " ③ A seat set up at the Imperial Court for ceremonies such as archery and sumo . いで‐・いる ‥ゐる【出居】

〘自ワ上一〙 外に出てその場所にすわる。また、そこに居る。⇔入り居る。※万葉(8C後)一三・三二七四「石が根の こごしき道を 岩床の 根延へる門を 朝には 出居(いでゐ)て嘆き 夕には 入り居て偲ひ」
