In some cases, this laminated solid oil-impregnated insulator was filled with nitrogen gas and pressurized to suppress internal discharges, and used as low-gas pressure cables and submarine GF cables. However, the principle of the oil-filled cable, which uses laminated insulating paper impregnated and pressurized with low-viscosity oil instead of high-viscosity compounds, was invented by L. Emanueli in 1912, and made a great contribution to the ultra-high voltage of power cables (Figure 2). In an oil-filled cable in which low-viscosity oil is impregnated and pressurized into laminated insulating paper with excellent dielectric properties, there are no voids in the insulator that cause discharges, and it shows extremely excellent voltage resistance characteristics.
