...The method of construction is to hollow out a hull of about 10m from a large tree, fill it with water, heat the inside with a fire, expand the side of the boat, and secure it with a crosspiece. The second type is a canoe with an outrigger on one side of the hull. This type is found throughout Oceania, from Madagascar to India, the west coast of Malay, and parts of Indonesia.
