Six Boundaries - Rokkyo
〘Noun〙 A Buddhist term. The six consciousnesses (rokushiki) , that is, the six objects perceived by the six senses of eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind. They refer to the realm of form (color and shape), the realm of sound (language and sound), the realm of fragrance (scent), the realm of taste (taste) , the realm of touch (hardness, moisture, warmth, etc.), and the realm of dharma (all things that are the object of consciousness, as well as thoughts other than the five realms above). The six dusts (rokujin) . *Bonshūbon Shasekishu (1283), Five Chapters: "Torioka said, 'When firewood and fire interact, consciousness and nature cannot be stopped .' Firewood is like the six senses."
