butanoic acid. C ₄ H ₈ O ₂ (88.11). CH ₃ CH ₂ CH ₂ COOH. Also called normal butyric acid or butanoic acid. An isomer is isobutyric acid (CH ₃ ) ₂ CHCOOH. It is found in animal milk fat as a glyceride, and is also produced during the butyric acid fermentation process of sugar and lactic acid. It is obtained by oxidizing butyl alcohol with potassium permanganate. Oily liquid. Melting point -7.9 °C, boiling point 163.5 °C. 0.959. 1.3991. p K _a 4.82 (25 °C). Soluble in water, ethanol, and ether. Has an unpleasant putrid odor and is slightly toxic and irritating. Used as a raw material in the manufacture of synthetic fragrances and varnishes. Isobutyric acid exists in plant essential oils, either free or as an ester. It is easily synthesized from isopropyl alcohol. Liquid. Boiling point 154 °C. 0.9504. 1.3930. pK _a 4.85. butanoic acid．C₄H₈O₂(88.11)．CH₃CH₂CH₂COOH．正酪酸，ブタン酸ともいう．異性体にはイソ酪酸(CH₃)₂CHCOOHがある．グリセリドとして，動物の乳脂中に含まれているほか，糖や乳酸の酪酸発酵過程で生成する．ブチルアルコールを過マンガン酸カリウムで酸化すると得られる．油状の液体．融点－7.9 ℃，沸点163.5 ℃．0.959．1.3991．pK_a 4.82(25 ℃)．水，エタノール，エーテルに可溶．不快な腐敗臭をもち，わずかではあるが毒性，刺激性がある．合成香料やワニスの製造原料となる．イソ酪酸は，植物の精油中に遊離またはエステルとして存在する．イソプロピルアルコールから容易に合成される．液体．沸点154 ℃．0.9504．1.3930．pK_a 4.85．水に難溶，エタノール，クロロホルム，エーテルに可溶．正酪酸同様の性質を有する．[CAS 107-92-6][CAS 79-31-2:イソ酪酸]
