A French word translated as "Quietism." A Christian mystical thought that preaches the path to seeing God and perfection through complete passivity, particularly that of the Spanish Molinos, the French Madame Guyon and Fenelon. A similar idea is the Hesychasmos that was popular among the monks of Mount Athos in the late Byzantine period, and which is also sometimes called Quietism. → Related topic Mysticism Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
